Town of Sackville Covid-19 Update September 21

Tuesday 21 September 2021 12:14 PM UTC-07 | Tags: resident-information

The Province of New Brunswick announced new regulations to increase vaccination rates and slow the spread of Covid-19 and the Town of Sackville is putting measures in place to comply.

Effective 11:59pm tonight, anyone entering Town facilities aged 12 or older will be required to show their record of immunization or medical exemption certificate and a government issued identification to access programs and facilities. Town staff or designates will verify a record of immunization or medical exemption certificate and government-issued identification when a person enters a program or facility. Without the required records, visitors will not be permitted entry. Masks are required indoors regardless of vaccination status.

The Town of Sackville is advising residents to allow extra time to enter its indoor recreation programs and facilities, as proof of COVID-19 vaccination verification may cause some delays.

The Town recommends residents keep a copy of their record of immunization that they can easily access, such as on their smartphone or a photocopy in their wallet, in case a provincial inspector requests to see it. Accepted proof of vaccination includes:

  • MyHealthNB record
  • Immunization record from an RHA clinic, pharmacy, or Public Health
  • Photo or copy of immunization record
  • Proof of vaccination from another jurisdiction
  • Medical exemption certificate

The Town is also taking steps to protect our employees. Last night, Council passed a Covid-19 Vaccination Policy which requires all employees (including Council), contractors, volunteers, firefighters, and vendors to be fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved Covid-19 vaccine.

As the Covid-19 pandemic is constantly changing, the Town will continue to monitor things and are prepared to adjust the policy as needed.

Covid-19 is real and it's here in Sackville. With the recent jump in numbers locally, especially in vulnerable groups such as the Drew Nursing Home and several schools, everyone needs to do their part to stop the spread of Covid-19. Throughout the pandemic, our staff has worked hard to create a safe environment while continuing to provide a high level of service to our residents. Please continue to be vigilant – wash your hands, wear a mask, practice physical distancing, stay home if you have any symptoms and get tested, clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, and get vaccinated. These measures are absolutely essential in helping to keep our community and our families safe.

As of today, Fall Fair will go ahead with safety measures in place in compliance with Provincial regulations. We will provide an update on Wednesday September 22.

Thank you all for your patience and cooperation as we work through this together.
